LGBT+

St Mary’s College LGBT+ association celebrates diversity in gender identity and sexual orientation and seeks to promote visibility, awareness and education of LGBT+ issues. We also run social events open to everyone both in College and beyond. We know that this year it will be harder for LGBT+ students to meet one another, but our exec will be here to support LGBT+ students and organise social events in line with government regulations.

Make sure check out our Instagram and Facebook to find updates on social events and campaigns. Feel free to get in touch as we would love to have as many freshers as possible involved with this year’s! If you have any questions or just want to know more about LGBT+ life at Durham feel free to email our LGBT+ Representative at Alicia.bickerstaff@durham.ac.uk

There is also a lot to get involved in in the wider Durham LGBT+ scene. Make sure to check out the Durham LGBT+ association Facebook and Instagram for ways to get involved. They run an LGBT+ parenting scheme which is a great way to meet fellow LGBT+ students from outside college (the sign up link can be found under resources). There are also societies offering specific support such as the Trans association and the A alliance, which focuses on A-sexuality. If your creative, you may also be interested in getting involved with the Durham University  LGBT+ Charity fashion show which takes place in June, so make sure to check out their Facebook for updates.
