ICG Seminar: Dr. Yu Guan, Newcastle University

06/06/2019 @ 13:00 - 14:00

Dear all,

There will be an ICG Seminar on this date, at this time and place. Details are to follow:

Title:  Wearable sensing for activity recognition and health assessment

Speaker: Dr. Yu Guan, Newcastle University, invited by Noura

https://openlab.ncl.ac.uk/people/nyg10/

Abstract:  In this talk, I will introduce wearable sensing technologies and how to use it for human activity recognition and health assessment. Specifically, I will introduce two of my previous works [1][2]. In the first work, I will brief the challenges of wearables-based human activity recognition, and how to use deep learning techniques on modelling and recognising the complex behaviours in real-time. The second work is a cross-disciplinary work between computer science and neuroscience research. We placed wearable sensors on new-born infants, and use the corresponding accelerometery data for general movement assessment for Perinatal stroke screening. In this work, only weakly labels (sequence-wise annotation) are available, and we developed a framework based on multi-instance learning, which not only can output the sequence-level prediction (i.e., positive/negative), but also can highlight when the abnormal movements taking place for better understanding the decision-making process.

Best regards,

Alexandra
